For over 25 years, AVM Rajeswari – The Schoolhas nurtured young minds through academic excellence, discipline, and holistic development. Founded in 1995 with just 85 students, the school is today recognised as one of the trusted schools in Chennai.
With a strong focus on individual attention, values-based learning, and student well-being, we ensure every child feels supported and empowered to grow. Our transition from Samacheer (Tamil Nadu State Board) curriculum to the CBSE curriculum in 2022 further strengthened our commitment to providing future-ready, nationally benchmarked education while retaining the care and warmth parents value most.
We are currently progressing towards Senior Secondary affiliation (Grades XI & XII) under the CBSE curriculum, further strengthening our commitment to providing continuous, future-ready education for our students.
Beyond academics, AVM Rajeswari – The School has established a strong tradition of excellence in sports and co-curricular activities. Students have consistently excelled at Zone, Inter-Zone, District, State, and National-level competitions in Basketball, Badminton, Volleyball, Athletics, Throwball, Boxing, and Carrom, bringing numerous accolades to the school. The school has also nurtured students who have gone on to represent higher-level teams and compete on larger platforms.

History
Our Legacy
AVM Rajeswari – The School: For Greater Values is recognised as one of the trusted schools in Chennai, known for its commitment to academic excellence, holistic education, and strong values-based learning. The school was founded by Mr. AVM Kumaran with the blessings of Late Mrs. AVM Rajeswari Ammal, President of AVM Charities and wife of Late Shri A.V. Meiyappan, the founder of AVM Studios. The school was inaugurated as a Nursery School on 12th June 1995 by Mrs. Sarojini Varadappan, under the presidency of
Mrs. AVM Rajeswari.
Growing Through the Years
What began as a small nursery school with just 85 students gradually grew into a Primary School and later evolved into a full-fledged Matriculation Higher Secondary School. Over the years, AVM Rajeswari – The School has earned a reputation for providing quality education in a nurturing and student-centred environment.
The school has consistently upheld a tradition of academic excellence. Under the Tamil Nadu State Board curriculum, students secured a District Rank and State 11th Rank (496/500) in the Class X Board Examinations (2012–13) and consistently produced 100% results in Class X and Class XII Board Examinations. The CBSE Journey
From the academic year 2022–23, AVM Rajeswari – The School transitioned to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) curriculum as part of its commitment to providing a more future-ready, nationally aligned, and holistic learning experience for students. The shift to CBSE was driven by the school’s vision to promote concept-based learning, critical thinking, skill development, and experiential education, while equipping students to meet the evolving academic and professional demands of the modern world. The CBSE curriculum also complements the school’s focus on holistic development, innovation, and competency-based learning in alignment with the principles of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Since adopting the CBSE curriculum, the school has successfully guided two batches of Grade 10 students, achieving 100% pass results, reflecting the dedication of the students, teachers, and the school community towards academic excellence.

Leadership & Vision
From 2000-2023, the school was managed by the AVM Rajeswari Educational Trustunder the visionary leadership of Mr. AVM K. Shanmugam, whose dedication has played a significant role in the institution’s growth and development. In 2024, Dr. Anisha Shanmugam, daughter of
Mr AVM K Shanmugam took on the role of Correspondent, continuing the school’s legacy of educational excellence and innovation. She holds a PhD in Management from the University of Bristol, UK, where her research focused on teaching and learning practices in government schools in Tamil Nadu. Her academic and professional journey reflects a deep commitment to creating meaningful, inclusive, and future-ready educational experiences for children. Guided by its philosophy — “For Greater Values” — AVM Rajeswari – The School continues to nurture confident learners, compassionate individuals, and responsible future citizens through quality CBSE education and holistic development.
